ACS6325   Certificate Research Project (AMRC Industrial)   (30 credits)

Year Running: 2015/2016
Credit level: F7
Pre-requisites   No
Co-requisites   No. Students registered on the Certificate may, with academic guidance and permission, drop this module in order to take the Advanced Individual Research Project (AMRC Industrial) in order to upgrade from the Certificate to the MSc.

Description

The aim of this module is to provide students with project planning, management and research skills. Students will work individually on a single part of a larger industrially focused project (typically 4-5 students will work on separate aspects of the larger project). Initially students will be taught AMRC methodologies and project planning techniques, and then will be expected to apply these to construct a plan for their research project. Upon successful planning, students will carry out the project gaining key transferable research skills. The industrial projects will be proposed by AMRC partner companies. Industry-based students with experience, but without academic qualifications, will be enrolled on a Certificate level project initially (fewer credits) so that their suitability for an MSc level programme can be assessed.
